Platform

Internal tooling for the accounts we operate.

Our campaign-management application is used only by our own team, only on the client accounts we have been contracted to manage — KDP publishers and FBA brands alike. It is not a commercial product: there is no public sign-up, no free trial and no licence available to third parties.

Why we built it

An advertising account for a publisher or a private-label brand is not one campaign. A single client with sixty titles or ASINs across two marketplaces can easily run several hundred campaigns, each with its own keyword sets, negative lists, bid tiers and budget. Multiply that by a roster of clients and the work becomes impossible to do accurately by hand in an advertising console.

The application exists to remove that manual work and, more importantly, to remove human error from it. Every change it makes is a change one of our campaign managers decided to make; the software executes it consistently across the account and records that it happened.

What the application does

Four functions, all of them in service of operating a client's account.

1

Campaign creation

Builds out our standard account structure for a new client or a newly published title — the set of campaign types we run, with their targeting, starting bids and budgets, created consistently rather than typed by hand.

2

Targeting management

Adds and pauses keywords and product targets, maintains negative-keyword and negative-product lists, and applies our bid ladder by price band and performance tier.

3

Performance reporting

Pulls campaign, keyword and search-term performance on a schedule, stores it per client, and produces the periodic report we send to that client.

4

Margin reconciliation

Combines advertising spend with the cost figures each client supplies — royalty rates for KDP catalogs, cost of goods and fulfilment fees for FBA catalogs — so that optimization decisions are made against actual margin rather than advertising cost of sale alone.

Intended use of the Amazon Ads API

We are requesting Amazon Ads API access in order to perform the work described above on behalf of our contracted clients, within the client's own advertiser account and under authorization granted by that client.

Concretely, we intend to use the API to:

Every account accessed through the API is an account whose owner has signed a services agreement with us and has explicitly authorized our access. We request access to no account outside that set.

What we are not

To state it plainly, because it matters for eligibility:

  • We do not operate an e-commerce business, an online shop, or a comparison-shopping service.
  • We do not operate a demand-side platform or an ad network.
  • We do not sell, license or sublicense our software to third parties, and we do not offer it as a self-service product.
  • We do not sell, share or syndicate advertising data, in raw or aggregated form, to anyone.

Data handling and security

Advertising data belonging to our clients is confidential business information and is handled accordingly.

Isolation

Data is stored separately per client account. We do not combine one client's performance data into another client's reporting, and we do not produce cross-client benchmarks from it.

Access control

Access is limited to the members of our team assigned to that client. Credentials and API tokens are stored encrypted and are never shared outside the company or embedded in anything distributed to third parties.

Transport and storage

All connections to advertising systems are made over encrypted channels. Stored data resides in access-controlled infrastructure operated by us.

Retention and deletion

We retain performance data only for as long as it is needed to report to and optimize for the client concerned. When an engagement ends, our access is revoked and the client may request deletion of retained data, which we carry out.
